🏭 Pipop's Factory—Garena Game Jam #2 Submission 🤖
Hey everyone!
Welcome to the first devlog for Pipop's Factory, our submission for the Garena Game Jam #2! This was a 48-hour game jam with the theme "2 Buttons", and we’re excited to share our journey, updates, and plans for the future.
About Pipop's Factory
Pipop's Factory is a pixel-art 2D puzzle platformer that challenges you to think creatively within the limits of Pipop's memory slots. Meet Pipop, a charming little robot with a big problem—he can only store two actions at a time in his limited memory. Jump, grab, move, or climb—you’ll need to carefully choose and swap between actions to guide Pipop through a variety of increasingly tricky levels.
The game is all about strategy and adaptability. Each level introduces new mechanics and obstacles, forcing you to rethink how you use Pipop’s limited memory. It’s simple to pick up but challenging to master, and we hope it’ll keep you scratching your head (in a good way)!
The Game Jam Experience
Our team consisted of 3 members:
- 2 Programmers: Handling mechanics, UI, and level logic.
- 1 Designer: Creating assets, animations, and the overall visual style.
We had a blast working on Pipop's Factory during the jam. The "2 buttons" theme was both a challenge and an inspiration—it forced us to think creatively about how to design engaging gameplay with such a simple control scheme.
While we didn’t place in the top 3, we’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished in just 48 hours. The feedback we received from players and other developers was overwhelmingly positive, and it’s motivated us to keep improving the game!
What's Next?
- Level Progression Overhaul
- We’re reworking the level progression to make it more satisfying and balanced.
- The game will now feature 10 levels + a tutorial to gradually introduce players to the mechanics and ramp up the difficulty.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Fix visual and audio feedback to make Pipop’s actions feel more impactful.
- Improving the UI to be more intuitive and user-friendly.
- Change title screen and level selection screen.
